Do Increased Cholesterol, LDL And HDL Levels Indicate The Need For Statin Medication?

I am a 65year old female. weight 100 lbs, healthy eater, fish, veggies, not a sweet eater etc. exerciser. Just had CBC test done. My cholesterol came back @241, 2016 was 206, LDL 145, 2016 was 118, VLDL 20, 2016 was 24, HDL 76, 2016 62. My Doctor wants to discuss results and I m sure he will want to put me on statins which I am hesitant to do. I am well aware that this could be a genetic issue. Would like to get your thought on this. Thank you

welcome to hcm...it is great that you have kept last year record also..lipid level increase with age also....now see statins are necessary if there is high cardiac risk and person has first degree relative with premature cardiac disease...as a matter of fact you can try nonpharmacological methods for lowering lipids ..please go for brisk walking ..avoid sugars fatty fast foods ..get back to lab after 6 months ..if no result start statin ...keep your bp sugar level under control...if you think my response as helpful mark so ..
