Do Intake Of Antibiotics Lead To Unusual Taste In Mouth?

I had shoulder surgery, developed a sore throat, lost voice and fever. Doctor put me on antibiotics. Started coughing, snotty nose. Fever broke. 3 days later doctor changed med, now have nasty taste in my mouth. Shoulder is fine. What s causing the nasty taste in my mouth?

As per your query Antibiotics have a tendency to cause a nasty taste or a foul taste in mouth and it is one of the most common side effects of antibiotics..

You need not to worry about it as when the intake of antibiotics will be withdrawn gradually the taste will become normal..

As of now you can drink plenty of water as well as chew flavoured sugar free chewing gum as it will stimulate saliva flow and also mask the foul taste..
You should also clean your tongue using a tongue cleaner..
