Do Irregular Periods Cause Lower Abdominal Pain?

Hi. I had severe lower stomache centralized pain in the morning 2 weeks ago and the same pain again this evening. Both were really bad but passed in about 10 min. I am an active 45 year old female and have always had regular light menstruel cycles. Since Dec I have been skipping and irregular cycles. Can the stomach pain be due to this? Is it anything I should be concerned about? Thank you in advance.
