Do My HCG Levels Anticipate A Miscarriage?

I found out I was pregnant yesturday with a home pregnancy test. Had a history of miscarriages so went in to get an early prenatal appointment. Had a complete workup prior and everything was normal with myself and spouse. My LMP was 4/16 but it is irreguarly long being at 31-32 days. The ultrasound showed an elongated sac with no yolk sac in sight. My HCG levels were 12000. The doctor told me to prepare for a miscarriage. Is there any hope?
