Do My Symptoms Indicate An Oral Thrush?

Hello,

I was wondering if I have oral thrush? For about a week now I have had white patches on my tongue which i thought was just dry mouth. Its been there for a week, does not hurt, and seem to lesson as I drink more water, but still hasn't gone away. I was wondering if this sounds like oral thrush?

From what I've read, it sounds like thrush is quite painful, so just because there is no pain, does that mean its not thrush? Or is there still a chance?

Thank you,

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain oral thrush is yeast infect theion and generally involves the tongue that leads to formation of white coating over the tongue..

It has a number of variants and is not always painful, therefore it is not necessary that white coating on tongue caused due to yeast infection is diagnosed as thrush if it is painful..
Secondly dry mouth can occur secondary to oral thrush..

I would therefore suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and he can do a clinical evaluation and also do a microscopic examination of scrapings from the coating and confirm the cause..

In case of oral thrush medications like Nystatin mouthwash, clotrimazole lozenges and oral medications like fluconazole, itaconazole etc can be advised to you..
Along with it taking more of probiotics like Yoghurt and garlic can be helpful..
For dry mouth suck tart candies and chew sugar free chewing gums..
Drink ample of water..

Hope this information help ..

Regards.
