Do Painful And Frequent Urination And Lower Left Back Pain Need Immediate Medical Attention?
I have had painful and frequent urination for over a month. My family in Mexico sent me ampicillin thinking it was a bladder infection but it hasn t gotten better. I went to the emergency room 2 days ago explained my symptoms. They had me pee in a cup and then told me they would call me with the results. They were checking for gonorrhea. Even though I told them I had not had unprotected sex since December of 2015. Today I woke up to sharp pains on my lower left back and have yet to hear from them regarding the UA. Should I go back to the ER and follow up with them. Or is it better to wait? Or try an urgent care clinic?
Your symptoms point towards urinary tract problem. It may be infection or stone I would like to investigate for urinary tract infection as well as kidney stones. Advice 1. Cefixime 100 mg per oral every 12 hours for 7 days 2. Syrup alkaline citrate 2 teaspoonful three times daily for 7 days 3. Dicyclomine 20 mg every 8 hours per oral for pain until resolution of pain 4. Ibuprofen 600 mg per oral after meal for 5 days 5. Drink 3 – 4 liters of uncontaminated water 6. Investigations – routine examination of urine, culture & sensitivity of urine, total & differential count of WBC, X – ray KUB, USG abdomen 7. Go to hospital in emergency for further management Thanks
