Do Small, Swollen Spots On Shaft Of Penis Suggest Balanitis?
I have small swollen spots on the shaft of my penis. I didn t really notice them until my wife and I used count oil during sex for lubrication. Once I put on the oil it started to sting a little bit. I was wondering if it was Balanitis? If not then what could it be?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Balanitis is inflammation of the glans and it is characterised by redness and irritation with or without pain of the glans. Swollen spots on shaft of penis is probably due to some other cause because balantitis will affect the glans only and not the shaft. Swollen spots on shaft could be due to herpes or primary skin lesion. Herpes is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) and is characterised by painful fluid filled vesicles. The infection can transmit by sexual route so it is advisable to use barrier method of contraception. A clinical assessment is required before diagnosis can be made. Thus, consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment, relevant investigations and thus treatment.
