Do Sudden Episodes Of Dizziness Suggest Pre Menopause?

Lately, I have been feeling light headed but mostly dizzy. I just want to give you a little backgroung. I am almost 50 years old and have a very busy life with two jobs. I don't get a lot of sleep, approx 5 hours a night, but that has been normal for me for quite some time. The dizziness started about three weeks ago and comes and go. I am on a low dose of thyroid med, but it has never bothered me before. Could this be a premenapausal issue?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
It could be a symptom of perimenopause but it could also be something more serious like anemia or a change in your thyroid status. It is best to see a doctor soon and get an exam and some blood tests done to try and figure out why you are having these symptoms. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water and avoiding caffeine and alcohol (they are dehydrating)
Regards
