Do The Following Thyroid Profile Report Suggest Hashimoto S Disease?

Hi, I m in my 11 weeks of preg. I received the results yesterday and I do have higher levels for thyroid related matters. TSH 4.54 (h), Thyroglobulin Antibody 5.6 (H), T4,Free(Direct) 1.38, Triiodothyronine (T3) 170, Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) Ab. 30. Is this already sufficient to come to a conclusion that I developed Hashimoto? I have read online that it may be a common case during pregnancy, and that it stabilizes after or so. Is this true? Should I be worried? My TSH was within a range (never even close to higher limit), in prior years. No family history of thyroid disorders. I m meeting endo soon. Please let me know what is your opinion.

Hi,

Hashimoto’s disease is a condition in which the body’s immune system starts to attack the thyroid gland.

The thyroid gland may be damaged by inflammation caused by antibodies attacking the thyroid gland.

Hashimoto’s disease can be diagnosed by blood tests for the thyroid function and it will show any abnormality.

The level of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), which is the most sensitive indicator of thyroid function will be high.

There will be the presence of antibodies against thyroid peroxidase (TPO antibodies).

If the thyroid gland is underactive, then the level of thyroid hormone will be low.

In the report you have furnished, TSH is high, Thyroglobulin antibody is high and Thyroperoxidase antibody is also high. These values reflect the picture of Hashimoto’s disease.

Kindly consult Endocrinologist for complete clinical evaluation and appropriate management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
