Doctor, I Am A New LTC Pharmacist And I Wanted

Doctor,

I am a new LTC Pharmacist and I wanted to know the difference between what constitutes an order vs an RX called in? For example, if a nurse receives an order from you at administer an AL pt. Percocet 5/325 mg 2 po stat X 1 dose from Pyxis and she then faxes form containing the medication ordered w/o your signature, then is that solely an order? Consequently, must we then wait for you to fax over a signed Rx, hence prescription, containing sig in order for the order to technically be considered an Rx, thereby allowing a prescription number assigned?
