Does ADHD Compound The Existing Depressive Symptoms?
Hello, I am writing as my Godson who is 23 appears to be experiencing a worsening in his depression after recently losing a job he loved. He does have a history of depression and is taking 10 mg of Ciprolex daily. He is also diagnosed with ADHD. We are wondering if the ADAD is componding the situation and if Ciprolex at this dosage should be continued or increased. Also we were wondering if it is time for a psychiatrist to be brought on board. Any thoughts you might have would be appreciated. Thanks, Lynn
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. He is 23 and has depression. In general depression is found to be co-morbidly associated with ADHD in a number of cases. ADHD will not worsen his depression but the two illnesses in one person may make an individual suffer more than usual.
In my opinion if his depressive symptoms are persisting then you can discuss with his doctor and and doses can be increased. If his ADD symptoms are persisting then medicines like Stimulants as Amphetamines etc can help. Visit his psychiatrist for detailed prescription.
Thanks, I hope this helps you. Take care
