Does Alpha Liporic Acid Cause Any Adverse Side Effects?

Are there any serious side effects from taking too much alpha liporic acid to try to get neuropathy relief? How about long-term usage? All these web sites just want to sell their products and don t really give any info about the usage of Lipoic Acid. I knew there would be a catch. Run around the barn and then ask for money. I have already wasted money paying medical specialists for advice. I will just continue on my own, thanks anyhow.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Alpha lipoic acid is a vitamin like substance. It is essential to maintain certain vital functions of cells.
Consuming it would help to keep the tissues under healthy condition and with optimum functioning.
As such, there are no side effects noted with its use. Also, it is a water soluble compound and hence, excess intake would easily get excreted in urine.
Due to these reasons, you can consume it as recommended without any harm, but with more beneficial effects.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best and wish you good health.
Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran.S.,
MBBS., MD.
