Does Amiodarone Pill Cause Tightness And Swelling In Throat?
My mom speaks of her throat tightening up. She thinks it is from her amiodarone pill which she takes 100mg a day. As a result she does not want to take it but she had a cow valve implant about 10 years ago. Could this pill cause this swelling in her throat?? thanks I just want to pay one time only
The tightness and swelling in throat as you mention in query occur due to may reasons like bacterial or vital infection or acid reflux. Amiodarone sometimes cause throat irritation and cough , so consult doctor who prescribe this medicine and discuss the condition with him/her , doctor may alter the dose or prescribe substitute . Till then give warm compresses to throat .Do warm saline gargles and take benadryl. Maintain proper oral hygiene by brushing and flossing. Do rinses with betadine as well. If condition dosen't get well , then consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order throat swab test and viral culture test to confirm the diagnosis .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
