Does Amlodipine Besylate Cause Swelling And Itching In The Feet?

I have swelling in the feet and ankles. Am on amlodipine besylate and an ace inhibitor. I believe that the amlodipine is causing the swelling of the feet and ankles. Also get terrible itching of the feet, ankles and lower part of legs. Could the amlodipine besylate be the cause of this?

Hello,

Amlodipine may be responsible for the swelling of the feet and ankles, this is a known side effect of this medicine.

It can cause itching in 1% to 2% (1 to 2 out of 100) of people who use the medicine. It is possible that you are in this minority of people that have this issue.

It would be best to speak to your doctor about the symptoms that you are experiencing.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
