Does Amlodipine Cause Tightness In The Chest?

I have been on Amlodipine 5 mg for about 1.5 years. I experienced tightness in the center of my chest. Had an EKG and stress test and a chest x-ray. All were clear. Tightness had resolved, but still having what can be described as muscle spasms in my chest. My doctor also prescribed metoprolol 25 mg, because my BP was still a little high with just amlodipine and she was concerned about the chest tightness. I am seeing her this Thursday to discuss next step. I think the amlodipine is contributing to this. Has anyone else had issues like this with amlodipine?

I can understand your concern.
Amlodipine is an age old and time trusted drug for hypertension.
It has no such side effect of chest tightness.
So I don't think your chest tightness is due to Amlodipine.
Possibility of muscular spasm or anxiety is more likely.
So avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm.
Apply warm water pad on affected areas of chest. Take simple muscle relaxant drug twice daily.
Don't worry, you will be alright.
