Does Amoxicillin 125 Mg Cause Hair Loss?

I have suffered 90% hair loss after taking 875 Amoxicillin laced with 125 mg. Clavulanate Potassium Acid, latent effect. I was given this for a minor sinus infection. Then the Dermatologists ordered perscription of 40 mg Prednisone for 10 days, 20 mg. for 10 days, 10 mg for 10 days. I stopped taking it after 2 Days due to terrible reaction. Two Contrainindicated Drugs?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Antibiotics can cause temporary hair thinning. Antibiotics can deplete vitamin B and haemoglobin, which disrupts hair growth. Anyway, they do not cause such a massive hair loss.

In my opinion, the symptoms can be related to a hormone imbalance. I recommend seeing your doctor for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
