Does Ativan Help In Reducing Migraine?

I am a migraine sufferer and am currently in a painful migraine cycle. I have been hospitalized previously at the Diamond Headache Clinic in Chicago for a total of 6 weeks. I do not want to be readmitted, and my neurologist just prescribed me Ativan to knock me out to break this cycle. I have never tried this before and was wondering of the success of this.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Tab.Ativan( lorazepam) is a mainly used as a antianxiety drug.other uses cab be as a anticonvulsant or in alcohol withdrawal syndrome.
If you are having headache ( migraine) because of severe anxiety or stress or agitation, then this tablet can be effective.
Your neurologist might have given you because of this only otherwise there are other very good drugs to combat migraine symptoms.
If you doesn't feel good with ativan, you must consult your neurologist again.
Thanks
