Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i am a patient of bpd and under lithosun, lamitor, qutipin, lonazep and bupron for many many, about 20 years. due to tremors in one of the hands, the doctor had advised to take betacap tr40 and is also being continued for last 8 years.suddenly the pulse has gone down to about 23. and in fact there was a pause of 4.5 seconds on the ecg. my question is 1) whether sudden lowering of pulse is because of continued use of betacap tr 40 as the consulting doctor is suspecting.? 2) what could be the other possible reasons?
Since you have been using betacap for 8 years and the problems are just now, except if you accidentally have taken higher doses of it , seems not that the problem comes from betacap.
You have to stop betacap for somedays and do an ecg or better an ecg holter monitoring to see clearly what the problem really is.
It may have to do with the betacap and it will be solved after stopping it, your heart rate will normalize and you will not have long pausa on holter; it may be a primary heart problem that have been worsening from taking betacap and may need a definitive pacemaker if there are long pausas on holter and you have clinical signs.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
