Does Celestimine Intake Cause Dizziness And Impaired Vision?

Hi There, I am 30 years of age. I am 1.67 meters tall and weigh 90 kgs. I had a reaction to cataphlam on the golf course and was rushed to hospital where there gave me cortisone, adrenalin and anti histamines. Allergex to start with. in the days after the attack I experienced dizziness and light-headedness as well as spikes in the blood pressure. Feeling like I was going to pass out. I went back to the doctor and he gave me celestimine which I have been taking everyday for a week and a half longer than the doctor prescribed the tablets. I now have stopped the tablets but feel out of it. Not normal at all, I am fatigued and feel dizziness with impaired vision. Almost out of focus like I m not quite myself. I also feel anxious. Is this because of prolonged use of the celestimine tablets? What should I do?

Anesthesiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Yours is a typical case of adrenal insufficiency caused because of long term Celestamine use and sudden withdrawal. The following are the symptoms of acute adrenal insufficiency:
1) Dehydration, dizziness, fainting, fatigue, light-headedness, loss of appetite, low blood pressure, low blood sugar, water-electrolyte imbalance, or sweating
2) Gastrointestinal: nausea or vomiting
3) Pain abdomen and legs

Treatment of Celestamine induced secondary adrenal insufficiency:
1) Administration of corticosteroids
2) Monitoring of hemodynamic parameters like blood pressure and systemic vascular resistance and blood glucose
Kindly consult a physician for thorough clinical examination and appropriate treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
