Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can chiari cause tremors? I just found out that I have chiari from an MRI trying to find the cause of tremors in my hands. My (dominate ) hand seems to be affected the most by the shaking, they have ruled out epilepsy and MS. When the shaking is present I am not having a seizure or loose consciousness. Certain arm positions and stress seem to make the shaking worsen. And last week I lost the use of both arms from the shoulder to the elbow (they just hung there) and they are telling me it is just rotator cuff tendonitis. It just seems like there is a lot of things going wrong at the same time. I am 59 and have never had so many things going wrong.
dear friend chiari malformations usually cause no symptoms. since from you history there is nothing suggestive of tendonitis is evident doctor examining you must have found signs to come to that conclusion. as regards your tremors the possibilities range from parkinsons (most unlikely) to essential tremors (most likely) the features that indicate more towards the cause as essential tremors is aggravation by stress and intention to do some thing with the hand initiates it the other possible causes have been ruled out any way. let me assure you its a benign condition which is more distressing than dangerous you can discuss with your physician about possibility of starting some beta blocker medication it most of the time helps in controlling the tremors
