Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have recently been stung by a wasp and was prescribed prednisone but had a sensitivity to it so they had me stop. I am sensitive to benedryl so i can not take it so they prescribed pepsid. I was recently told about chloritabs. Would this be a good antihistimine to take in place of the pepsid. I was prescribed the steroid and only used it 2 days which was 60 mg. Is this enough to war off the allergic reaction when the steroid wears off?
You can take Chlortab, it is an antihistamine & help to reduce inflammation & discomfort. You can take analgesic if you have pain, take one sos when needed.
You can take non-sedating antihistamine, Levocetirizine, one sos when required (take if you are not sensitive to it).
Wash the area affected by the bite with Vinegar, remove any stings left on the skin. Apply hydrocortisone cream or calamine lotion on the area affected to reduce swelling & discomfort.
If you still have discomfort, you are suggested to visit ER & take medical aid.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
