Hi,
Cilostazol is used in the treatment of
intermittent claudication and its associated symptoms like pain, cramping, numbness or weakness in the legs which may develop during walking. It works by widening blood vessels and preventing the formation of
blood clots. Cilostazol helps the blood to move more easily and smoothly in the body. It belongs to the group of medications known as antiplatelets and vasodilators.
Like other medications, Cilostazol has side effects too such as dizziness, headache, fluid retention in the legs, feet, arms or hands, joint pain,
muscle pain or cramps, bone pain, back pain, rapid heartbeat, anemia, neck pain,
chest pain,
nasal bleeding, allergic reactions etc. These side effects are mild and self limiting as well as go away over time. But, if these side effects persist for long or bother you, then you should consult your doctor first for medical attention.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Zubayer Alam, General And Family Physician
