Does Citalopram Tablet Cause Chronic Fatigue, Dry Mouth And Weight Gain?
Hi I have been taking 60mg Citalopram for over 5 years I am a 53yr old female. My phsyciatrist put me on them for severe anxiety, I find I'm always tired, dry mouth, and still depressed, i also gained quite a bit of weight. I was prescribed Abilify as a add on to the Citalopram but it did nothing for me and made me fatter so I stopped taking the Abilify. I would like to get off these pills, or find something better. Also home on stress leave from my job, my moods R so up and down. Also very hard to have an orgasm my sex life isn't too good I'm sure it's the pills. Tania
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. You are on Citalopram 60 mg since 5 years for anxiety and still the depressive symptoms, tiredness, dry mouth etc are persisting. You have also gained weight and this is most likely due to Citalopram. Even on Citalopram your symptoms are persisting so there is need for re-evaluation. As the drug is not resulting in benefit so in such case either the drug should be changed or some other augmentation drug should be added to therapy.

Bupropion or Mirtazapine if added to therapy should help in reducing your symptoms and you will feel better. Consult a psychiatrist for prescription. Hope this helps you. Thanks.
