Does Clomid Cause Problems With The Natural Periodic Cycle?
I only have periods if I take clomid. I haven t had a natural period for 3 years. Does that mean I m post menopausal and need HRT?after 6 cycles of clomid? Gp says I have early menopause but ovulate on clomid ( 21 day progesterone 67) Fsh varies from 6 to 29 over 6 weeks Confused !
Thanks for asking at Healthcare Magic. I read your question and I understand your concern. Menopause is defined by absence of menses for one year. FSH and LH levels will be high i.e. FSH 25-134 but significant cut off value is 40. Estrogen and Progestrone level will be low. so by definition you are not in menopause rather you may be perimenopausal. Clomid should not be used for more than three cycles as it then cause serious side effects like Hyperstimulation ovarian syndrome. however it doesn't disturb menstrual cycle to the extent to cause ammenorhea. I would like to advise you that you should do investigations for digging out cause of secondary amennorhea like hormonal profile, proper pelvic ultrasound, MRI Brian.. Hope it helps best.
