Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just started amoxo-clav a couple days ago and feel emotional and anxious about certain situations. This is out of character for me. I have the down in the dumps feeling too. Is this common with this medication? I still have 6 days left and hope it doesn t get worse.
Hi & Welcome. I can understand your concern. Prescribed to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria, the antibiotic Co-Amoxi Clav is generally safe. However the most common side effects is include stomach upset (vomiting, diarrhea) which is usually reversible and can be reduced by taking the tablets at the beginning of a meal. It is unlikely to cause emotional disturbances or anxiety as you have been experiencing. It could be due to some stress factor. I advise you to complete the course of antibiotic as prescribed by your treating doctor and consult him about the symptoms of emotional upset and anxiety for further evaluation. Hope this answers your query. A feed back is appreciated.
