Does Codeine Taken For Frozen Shoulder Cause Dizziness And Nausea?

Hi I have been prescribed codeine for a frozen shoulder. The shoulder is extremely painful, even after taking 60 mg of codeine, it does not take all the pain away. I am on my second day using codeine and wonder if I will be able to drive to work tomorrow - I have been very drowsy, light-headed and slightly nauseous. Do you think these side effects will pass? shall I continue to take the medication? although I know when it has worn off and the pain comes back worse. Would I need a couple of days or a week off work and then be able to function ok with the meds? Thank you for any advice, Karen

Hi,

Yes, dizziness & indigestion (causing nausea) are known side effects of the drug. You should try to take it after food, try on the counter medicine like Tab. Gelusil (to be sucked 2-3 times a day). If no relief, you need change the medicine or dosage. Please talk with your treating doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
