I m currently taking Lisiniprol 40 mg once a day in the morning and just switched from Labetalol 100 mg twice a day (morning and before bed) to Coreg 6.25 mg twice a day (morning and before bed). I m a Type I diabetic taking Apidra 5-8 units before meals (3 times a day), and Lantus 18-20 units once a day (evening). I just finished taking my A1C, CBC w diff and platelet count, Comprehensive Metabolic and Urine Microlabumin. Results were fine and my A1C was 6.4. My problem. Since switching to coreg, my fasting glucose reading and readings two after meals have been considerably higher. My readings used to be less than 130 fasting and 130-160 two hours after meals. Now my reading are 220+ fasting and 210+ after meals. I m not sick and there hasn t been any changes to my diet or anything else. Just the switch from labetalol to coreg. My blood pressure readings haven t changed with switch. My morning reading is about 122/80 to 118/76. One drug doesn t seem to be better than the other with regard to my BP readings. Question: I switched from labetalol to coreg without any issues other than the elevated blood sugar. Can I switch back to labetalol hoping my blood sugar returns to where it was? I know both drugs are similar, but would this be safe? Thank you!
