Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Crestor medication cause blood in the urine? (My husband takes Crestor...it is the ONLY prescription he takes other than over the counter Claritin D for allergies) I know Crestor can causes dark urine but urine test came back positive for blood. He has had a Cat scan and it showed nothing. No kidney stones, no masses???? Thank you, Wendy H.
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
No, Crestor doesnt cause such urine changes and he should look for other causes of it. In most cases this is sign of uroinfection or kidneys stones.
Less likely it may indicate possible bleeding in urethra, bladder or kidneys from popped vessel or some other cause. IF this continues you should do urine analysis, urinoculture and kidneys ultrasound to rule these main causes out.
He should drink raspberry tea and plenty of water till đ tests. Also, he should avoid sexual intercourse and reduce salt in diet since this could lead to increased risk of urinary stone formation.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
