Does Daflon 500mg Stop Heavy Bleeding During Periods?
Hello. My 11 years daughter has started her first periods since last six months. Every month she is suffering from heavy bleeding. So we went to a local gynac and she gave Daflon 500 mg to be taken every first five days of periods twice a day. My daughter is taking this tablet but she is complaining of heavy stomach pain. Also the heavy bleeding is not stopping. As per ultrasound report, the internal organs are all fine. Please advise whether she can continue taking Daflon 500mg and is it the right medicine for stopping heavy bleeding during periods. Thanks. Marry.
I have gone through the query and understood your concern. During the early years of menstruation, it is common to experience heavy periods. This is most often due to the hormone levels trying to adjust. The medication prescribed doesn't contain any hormone. If there is no improvement in the clinical condition, in addition to the pain, it should be stopped after informing your doctor. Management of weight, diet and exercise help a lot. Hormones are administered if needed.
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Shanti Vennam
