Does Diclofenac Sodium Cause Stomach Irritation?

My Dr. gave me a perscription a while back for Diciofenac Sodium 50 mg. I don t recall but I think it was once a day. I have arthritis, since a kid and I very rarely take anything. Just eat properly and try to stay active as much as possible. My question is, isn t this NSaid and can it be taken as needed, instead of regularly. I believe this type of medicine can cause some stomach irritation which I have experienced in the past. Thank You. JTP

Yes, Diciofenac Sodium can cause gastritis leading to abdominal discomfort, nausea, or even vomiting. If you do have to take this medication, please take it after food, and that too only if required. Please do not take another tablet before 12 hours of the previous, as it can aggravate gastritis.
