Does Diclofenac Sodium Have Adverse Side Effects?

I was prescribed diclofenac sodium ER 100 mg for swollen big toe joint that gave me trouble when I did heavy yard work. I am concerned about side effects of this drug and haven t taken it yet. I plan to go on hike with my son next week and thought I d wait until I see if my toe joint gets extremely painful again before using it. I trust my physician in prescribing it, I just would like more information about side effects of limited use of this drug. Any comments on using NSAIDs like this one and side effects likely. Thanks

I understand your worries
What have you been sick so taking diclofenac?
NSAIDS Diclofenac in particular and in general have many side effects when used long time. they have side effects on all agencies and departments. But we only care about the dangerous side effects and frequent as:
Systemic: Headache, restlessness.
Gastrointestinal: epigastric pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bloating, loss of appetite, indigestion.
Liver: Increased transaminases.
Ears: Tinnitus.
Particularly adverse effects on the gastrointestinal tract. 5-15% of patients taking diclofenac side effects in the digestive tract.
so, your toe joint pain treatment, the cause of it, it's too painful to use NSAIDS. including the use of drugs stomach protection such as Omeprazole, Lanzoprazole, Cimetidine ...
Hope this help to you!
