Does Doxycycline 100 Mg Cause Any Side Effect Such As Vomitting?
Hi,
I am a 33-year old male, 5'10", and 75 Kgs. I came from a flooded area last week. I have a wound on my foot so I asked my doctor to prescribe me a prophylactic against leptospirosis. My doctor prescribed Doxycycline 100 mg capsule to be taken twice a day for five days. As directed on the drug handbook, I take it one hour before meals. Today is the fourth day I'm taking this drug. This morning, I was nauseated and there was one vomiting episode about 1 hour after I took the drug. The initial vomit was light-greenish (I think that's the drug itself) and the last part of the vomit was darker.
I'm just wondering if the darker vomit contains blood or if it was because I ate chips ahoy last night (about 9 hours ago). What signs and symptoms should I watch for which would prompt me to go to the hospital? Thank you.

As you mentioned that you are taking DOXYCYCLINE 100 mg twice in day and today is 4th day .
Vomited twice , so in my opinion this vomiting is a side effect of Doxy .
The most common side effects of doxy are nausea , G I upsets , dysphagia .
Usually the color of vomits depends upon whatever you ate , so this darker color may be due to your food or due to Doxy.
When such patient visit to me I prescribe them Stemetil M D with pantaprazole - D one hour after meal .
Still you feel discomfort consult your doctor .
If vomiting recur then also consult your doctor.
