Does Doxycycline Cause False Positive Test Results For HPV?

6 week post partum a Pap smear was done, around that time I had elevated liver enzymes after giving birth and was just put on doxycycline because my acne was uncontrollable. Test came back positive for hpv, could any of the above cause a false positive?

Hello,

Both Doxycyclin and HPV are unrelated. Doxycyclin is an antibiotic drug and HPV is a human papilloma virus causing oral and cervical malignancies.

And doxy won't cause false positive test for HPV DNA. Positivity for HPV indicates, you have to take close follow-ups of pap smears. Please consult a gynecologist for more suggestions.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Siddartha
