Does Doxylamine Succinate Cause Drowsiness?

My husband took an over the counter sleep aid for trouble sleeping. It says Sleep Aid, Doxylamine Succinate 25 mg. It didn’t help but when he woke up he felt like he had a hangover! He took it at 8:pm, bed at 8:45pm, and up at 5:30 am. He works part time, retired and when he got home at 1:30 pm he had to go lay down and take a nap. He doesn’t take any other medication, I’m thinking he just had a bad reaction?

Yes, he may have experienced a bad reaction.

Sleep aids can make a person feel excessively drowsy in the am, this is an unfortunate common response. He may need to reduce the dose.
