Does Excedrin Cause Metallic Taste In Mouth In A Diabetic?

Hello, I have a mild headache almost every day and have been taking two Excedrin when this happens. It is the only med that relieves the headache. However, for the past 5 months I have had this metalic taste in my mouth that has come down to the prevention of eating. I have lost 11 pounds, and I am a T1 diabetic.
My doctor is running tests, but I just wondered if the Excedrin could be the cause of the metalic taste.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

As per your query metallic taste in mouth occurs here is not because of Excedrin as Excedrin is a combination of paracetamol, aspirin and caffeine and none of which is the cause for metallic taste in mouth.

Metallic taste in your mouth is mainly because of your underlying medical condition i.e Diabetes which causes dryness of mouth as well and leads to poor immunity of oral cavity and make that susceptible to microbes and metallic taste.

I would suggest you not to panic about anything. Maintain hygiene of oral cavity. do brushing twice a day along with flossing.

Use antimicrobial mouth wash such as Listerine.

Do warm saline gargles on daily basis.

Take diet rich in citrus fruits such as orange, lemon and add two drops on tongue to simulate taste.

Chew sugarless candies.

Visit dentist if this condition keeps on persisting for more than a week.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes,
