My name is Patt. I'm 71 years old. I have osteoporosis, high blood pressure, diabetes (under control w/meds), 5'2". Weigh 240 lbs. have IBS. Take Zoloft, atenolol, norvasc, 2400 mg. w/vit.D, calcium daily. Also take nexium, probiotics, zocor, glumetza (metformin that does not dissolve in stomach), Colestipol for IBS, and guifenisen for sinus problems. I know, I take a lot of meds. I have a great doctor and she has been my doctor for 30 years.
My current problem: I am having a lot of dental work done. I am losing teeth. Always have had a lot of dental work done over the years. I have had two teeth break off and one crack in the last six months so now I need to have those pulled or cut out. My dentist has just told me that Fosamax causing this and it's been a problem with dentists for awhile and some dentists are hesitant to work on women taking Fosamax. She is sending me to an oral surgeon for the extractions. I called my doctor and she sent word to me that she disagrees and I should keep taking the Fosamax. I have been taking Fosamax for over 10 years. I don't know what to do. I have 12 teeth left in my head, right now I have Vertigo from a bad inner ear infection.
Could you give any advice for me? I have a feeling that the damage is done and I should continue taking the Fosamax. What do you think. Any information you could offer would help.
