Does Freedom 5 IUD Cause Heavy Periods And Vaginal Infection?

I am 34 year old , having two kids ,one is 8 and other is 5. I Have used freedom 5 almost 2and 1/2 year ago. After that I was going through heavy periods and vaginal infectin that include foul water discharge,weakness joint pain . Is these are common side effect of IUD

Hi,

Any IUD irrespective of the brand and type can cause side effects like bleeding and infection.

The bleeding will be mild and will settle in few days.

If bleeding is severe, consult a gynecologist and get evaluated to check whether the coil is misplaced or not.

As of now, you can go for a vaginal swab to rule out infection like vaginosis or thrush.
