Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having rapid hear palpitations and was taken to ER my blood pressure was 89/56 and pulse 112. It really makes me scared. They don t seem to find anything. For about 5 years now I have been taking Gabapentin 300mg 2 times a day. I am wondering if that can cause those symptoms?
Since when are you suffering from palpitations? Since when are you taking the drug?
For what purpose you’re taking the Gabapentin drug. Yes, in acute cases or allergy cases it may cause palpitations.
You also need to check for other causes for palpitations like hyperthyroidism, anxietyneurosis, infection or anemia or beri beri or functional or conductive heart problems et cetera.
Please consult your Cardiologist he will take ECG, X-ray and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
