Does Gabapentin Causes Weight Gain?

I take Gabapentin 600mg 3x s a day due to back surgery I had in July 2013, I have gained over 30 lbs since my surgery. I belonged to Weight watchers, every week when i went I would gain weight. I looked back at my WW record and I started gaining weight when I started taking Gabapentin. My back kills me and I know part of it is due to the weight gain. Does gabapentin cause you to gain weight and do you recommend a different mecicine I could take? Thank You for your help

Weight gain is not a commonly observed side effect of Gabapentin.
Other causes should be explored out to cure the condition.
