Does Imitinef Mercilet Cure Blood Cancer?

Hi I just received a forwarded mail from one of my friends saying "'Imitinef Mercilet' is a medicine which cures blood cancer. Its available free of cost at "Adyar Cancer Institute in Chennai". Please advice, is this a true information or just a false one. Thanks Sree

I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

Imatinib mercilate is useful in leukemia. But it is not useful in all leukemia. It is useful in chronic myeloid leukemia. It is available free of cost at many center. It does not cure the leukemia. Just help to reduce cancer cell load.

this medicine is very much targeted for a particular cellular defect. it is used in only few types of cancers; CML, Ph+ALL and some other rare types. it has no role in other cancers. it can not be used for all types.
