Hi,
Yes, although it is very rare,
thrombocytopenia can occur. Indapamide is a thiazide diuretic ('water pill') commonly prescribed to treat
high blood pressure and edema associated with congestive
heart failure. Its common side effects include dyspepsia, constipation, diarrhea, flatulence, hypokalemia, hyponatremia,
hyperglycemia, hyperuricemia and allergic reactions.
Thrombocytopenia (decreased
platelet count) is a very rare but serious blood abnormality that can occur with Indapamide. Its consequences include bleeding from the nose or in the skin or in other organs. Bleeding is reversible and the platelet count would return to normal level following discontinuation of Indapamide.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
