Does Losartan Cause Pain In The Legs And Dry Cough?

I am currently taking losartan potassium 25 mg for BP for three months now, my vision has gone down hill. Wore 125 reading glasses, now 175s aren t enough. My legs ache so bad in the morning. Takes about thirty minutes to get them working. And i have an annoying dry cough. Main reason lasinapril did not work for me. Other than losartan, I take 50 mg once a day of topiramate for migraine preventative and one aspirin. Question is, can I cut losartan in half to see if side effects go away as my Dr said losartan would not cause any of those side effects and I would see an eye doctor.

Hi,

In rare cases, losartan can cause a condition that results in the breakdown of skeletal muscle tissue, leading to kidney failure.

Call your doctor right away if you have muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness especially if you also have a fever, nausea or vomiting, and dark coloured urine.

A cough is one of the most frequent side effects associated with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) but is not thought to be associated with losartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist (ARA).

This study compares reports of a cough with losartan and three ACEIs used in general practice.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
