Does MRI Scan Detect Kidney Stone?

my daughter is pregnant and is in the hospital with severe flank pain....this is her 3rd visit...they have said it s maternal hydronephrosis or a possible kidney stone (which the MRI did not show) she comes home for a few days and then has to go back to the ER with severe pain. Is it possible to not see a kidney stone on an MRI?
