Does MRSA Infection Cause Weight Gain?

My son s weight is out of control ever since he had MRSA two years ago. (He s gained over 100 pounds and now weighs 335.) can there be a connection between MRSA and weight gain? He also is in constant pain due to fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis.

Hello

No there wouldn't be any connection between the MRSA and his weight gain.

If he's on prednisone for his RA that could account for the weight gain, but he may also be low thyroid--hypothyroidism--so he needs to have his thyroid function studied with blood tests
