Does MRSA Infection In The Ear Require Surgical Treatment?
Hi doctor, I have been diagnosed with an MRSA infection in my middle ear. The infection has been around for 9 months now, my GP originally thought it was a common infection and gave me some ciprofloxacin drops for about 5 months to no avail. I found an alternative opinion recently that did a swab test and foundit was MRSA. Since the eardrum hasn t healed in 9 months, he recommended some antibiotics followed by ear surgery. What would be your recommendations for treatment, is ear surgery necessary? Thank you, doctor. Lawrence
MRSA infection in the ear is a serious matter and if not treated appropriately it may damage your eardrums and thus hearing abilities. I would recommend you to get antibiotics followed by surgery as soon as possible.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
