Does Mellaril Have Any Antidote To Counteract Its Side Effects?

Is there an antidote for Mellaril? It limits how hard I can exercise; my chest tightens up and I feel that I ll damage my heart if I don t slow down or stop. This began 2 weeks after I began the drug, and has continued to this day even after having discontinued it many years ago.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The effects of Mellaril will not persist years after its discontinuation. The symptoms you are experiencing can occur due to cardiac issues.

Pulmonary issues or anxiety. EKG, chest Xray, stress test, pulmonary function test are required at this point to come to a definite diagnosis.

Please be advised to follow up with your primary provider for detailed evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Lekshmi Rita Venugopal, General & Family Physician
