Does Meloxicam Interact With Losartan HCTZ And Aspirin?

I went to an orthopedic doctor yesterday for pain in my hip. He was referred to me by my primary physician. After looking at my X-rays he said I had arthritis in my right hip and prescribed Meloxicam 7.5 Mg. tablets once a day. I already take losartan/hctz tabs, 50/12.5 twice a day, plus a take a low dosage baby aspirin once a day. Is it OK to take all three of these medicines without fear of a interaction? Thank for your help. Patricia

Hello, Thanks for the query.
By and large there is no interaction between the medications that you are taking and Meloxiam. However, since you are already on low dose aspirin, further addition of a NSAID like Meloxicam can cause gastric irritation and initiate hyperacidity. So you need a drug like Omeprazole (on empty stomach once a day) or Ranitidine once or twice a day) to prevent that possibility. As you have arthritis you will have to take an antiinflammatory drug like meloxicam for a few days. Plus it should be always taken after food. There is no other interaction that is likely to happen. Thanks.
