Does Mervelon Cause Clotty Bleeding Between Periods?

Hi, I m taking Mervelon from last 2 years, in the beginning I was giving break between the packs after every 3 months but from this year in January my doctor said I don t need to give break as I get very heavy and painful periods and with those I also get migraines too so Doctor suggested to keep on taking without giving break. But in April I had bleeding in between the pack. I went to see the doctor she said it happens sometimes don t worry keep taking but again now in June I started bleeding again Inbetween the pack. What should I do now stop taking for 7 days or should I keep talking Mervelon. But I get heavy periods with clots I can t sleep at night because the periods are heavy and migraine. I tried to call my doctor but she is not available till August. Please suggest me something.

Hello,

Mervelon is an oral contraception pill and it should be taken regularly, without breaks in between packs. I would recommend you to continue to use the pill daily as you are recommended by your doctor. Also, there are different causes for bleeding. Mervelon may cause bleeding or it can be due to structural issues.
So, it is important to continue to take the pill regularly and set an appointment with your doctor and have the following:
- a gynecological exam
- a pap smear if you have not had one in the last couple of years
- cervical smear for STDs
- transvaginal ultrasound to examine the inner layer of the womb and the other pelvic organs.

According to the results of these tests and examinations, the doctor will decide on further management.
