Does Methadone Causes Forgetfulness?

My mother has been on 10mg of Methadone daily for over 25 years along with Seroquel for sleep, and Savella for pancreatitis pain/fibromyalgia/depression. She is forgetting what day it is - she missed Christmas eve and after several reminder forgot to pick up her grandchild - my daughter from bus stop recently indicating impairment. CAn 10mg dose of Methadone possibly be causing this type of problem? Thanks for your help. Lisa HOule email address is YYYY@YYYY

I appreciate your concern for your mother, she really needs to be looked after a daughter like you.

Methadone is used to control her pain and its used not associated with forgetfulness.
Seroquel is an atypical antipsychotic used to treat her psychiatric symptoms.
Savella is antidepressant used in the treatment of fibromyalgia and less likely to be associated with impaired memory.

In view of the above explanation, it is apparent that your mother might be having some sort of age related loss of memory which could have been increased with the use of Seroquel.

Hence, you are advised to taken an opinion from the treating pscychiatrist to find out the possibility and use an alternate medication for her psychiatric problems.

Hope these suggestions could be useful in getting her treated for forgetfulness.
