Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I have had high blood pressure for years. Haven t felt well in the past week. Usually 140/90, when I took it the past couple of days it was 106/68 with pulse rate at around 79. Have been on blood pressure medication for over 20 years. Taking Losartan. Dr. recently put me on methotrexate for arthritis. Could this be causing the problem.
Yes....it does. Methotrexate lowers blood pressure and exerts salutary effects on blood vessels, which might explain the reduced risk of stroke and heart attack with this drug. Visit your clinician for revision of your anti hypertensive drug treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
